A City Church Filled with Gospel Joy
On a cold autumn evening in the heart of our city, I stepped into St Nicholas Cole Abbey for Co‑Mission’s first ever Partner’s Evening. The venue, with its elegant architecture and inviting atmosphere, set the tone for what would become a deeply encouraging night of fellowship, vision, and prayer.
One of the joys of the evening was simply meeting the variety of people who had gathered. There were full‑time gospel workers catching up with old friends, people prayerfully considering a call into ministry, long‑standing supporters eager to invest financially, and others who had come simply to celebrate and pray. It felt like a snapshot of the wider Co‑Mission family: diverse in roles and backgrounds, but united in a shared desire to see London reached with the hope of Christ.

Stories, Worship, and a Smorgasbord of Encouragement
The programme itself was a real smorgasbord of encouragement. Over delicious food and relaxed conversation, we had time to connect with people from across the network before gathering for the main content. From the front, we were treated to a blend of sung worship, reflections from God’s word, and interviews with a range of gospel workers. Each element added a different layer of encouragement, reminding us of the breadth of ministry happening across the city.
A stand‑out moment for me was an interview with a woman who financially supports Co‑Mission. Hearing someone speak so openly and joyfully about giving – not out of obligation, but out of a desire to invest in God’s Kingdom – was incredibly refreshing. Her honesty about thinking intentionally and prayerfully about her finances was a gentle but powerful challenge. It reminded me that generosity is not just a duty but a privilege, a way of participating in gospel work even when we’re not the ones on the front line.
Partner’s Evenings are about the whole picture of gospel partnership: everyone praying, many giving, and some going. The invitation to give was warm, gentle, and without pressure. It wasn’t a sales pitch; it was an opportunity. “Do what you can,” was the tone. “Pray more, give if you’re able, and join in with what God is doing through Co‑Mission.”

Why Nights Like This Matter
What struck me most, though, was how much time we spent praying together. In a culture that prizes strategy, metrics, and outcomes, it was deeply encouraging to see Co‑Mission’s leaders prioritise prayer above all else. Casting vision matters. Celebrating stories matters. But if we’re not praying, we labour in vain. That conviction shaped the whole evening.
I left feeling energised, grateful, and more committed to playing my part in gospel partnership. If you’re part of a Co‑Mission church and want to be more intentional in supporting the mission – whether through prayer, giving, or simply showing up – I’d wholeheartedly recommend coming to the next Partner’s Evening.
Save the date, invite a friend, and make an evening of it together. It’s a celebration worth being part of.
