KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • CONNECTING – Assisting the children’s minister in leading & teaching at JOLT and the Feb Half Term Holiday club.
  • GROWING – Leading & teaching at our two Sunday daytime congregations, and other Dundonald Kids events.
  • LIVING – Actively and consistently living as a Christian and participating in the life of Dundonald Church.

  • Practicing spiritual disciplines and growing in spiritual maturity.
  • Displaying patterns of biblical leadership and service.

CONVICTION

  • Co-Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Committed to growing disciples of Jesus among children.
  • Be regular in attendance on Sundays and actively involved in the life of Dundonald Church.
  • Willing to learn and be taught, and to constantly review and improve processes and practices.
  • Committed to working in accordance with the CMCT Safeguarding policy and codes of conduct for working with children.

COMPETENCIES

  • ELIGIBILITY:  Candidate must have, or obtain, a current, advanced DBS certificate on the Government Update Service. (This can be obtained through CMCT once role has been offered but before start date).
  • PLANNING: Organised, and committed with sustainable sacrifice, to excellent outcomes. Able to share and execute the vision for children’s ministry from the Children’s Minister, in line with the overall vision of the church. Able to plan and implement ministry initiatives, programs, and groups.
  • PASTORAL CARE:  A track record of caring through applying the Scriptures to the lives of children in the church and wider community.
  • COMMUNICATIONS:  Able to communicate effectively in written, verbal and digital form, and to build relationships with children and parents.
  • TEAM WORK: A strong team player with flexibility and high levels of emotional intelligence.  Able to give and receive direction, and build cheerful collaboration. Able to effectively assemble teams of volunteers and work with the CMCT Safeguarding officers, complying with legal requirements and best practice, in an effort to ensure their suitability to work with children. Effectively cooperate with the staff Kids team in enacting the Kids Ministry Action Plan in planning for the future.

PARTICULAR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sharing the gospel of Jesus with kids and inviting them to respond and grow in Christ by caring, gentle, and gracious means, free from any coercion or pressure.
  • Preparing and encouraging children to live for Jesus in every area of their life and in a manner appropriate for their age, by teaching from the Scriptures, giving the example of a godly life, and equipping them to share and defend their faith.
  • Preaching, speaking to, and teaching children at Dundonald Church, especially in age-specific Sunday Kids programmes.
  • Leading two Sunday Kids Teams and teaching at the two Sunday daytime services each week during the school term
  • Helping in the Breakout Sunday programs as required (i.e. when not on annual leave).
  • With the Children’s Minister, plan, lead, and deliver JOLT.
  • With the Children’s Minister, plan, lead, and deliver Feb HT Holiday Club
  • With the Children’s Minister, plan & deliver key seasonal events in the life of the church (e.g. K&Y Christmas & Easter events)
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the regular teaching programmes
  • Sharing in the recruiting and training of volunteers.
  • Meeting with volunteer leaders, and ministry trainees to share vision, teach the Bible, disciple leaders, and grow the ministry together.
  • Assisting with the pastoral care of the Dundonald church family, primarily through sharing in the care of our children.
  • Modelling evangelism by actively seeking to promote and spread the gospel in south-west London and beyond.
  • Attending and contributing to the annual Revive weekend, other occasional church weekend-aways and the annual Co-Mission Staff Focus.
  • By prior arrangement with your line manager, attend and lead on one summer camp each year if you wish (but not to commit to any further ministry outside of Dundonald except by arrangement with the Senior Assistant Pastor and your line manager.)
  • Attend one ministry training conference each year (e.g. GYD).
  • In all matters comply with and have a working knowledge of the Co-Mission Staff Protocols and the code of conduct for working with children – notably, taking registers, and meeting DBS leader to child ratios.
  • Other duties as required.

There is an occupational requirement that the person appointed to this position will be a committed Christian and in agreement with our statement of faith.
